The Artist
"I am only trying to express some of the vibrations I feel within, that I also know originate without. I'm hoping there are people out there who will recognize some of these vibrations as present or past. People who can absorb or re-absorb these said vibes for future expression. If I am successful I will be making a vital connection."
Artist Statement
‘In the final analysis my work can be seen simply as aesthetic propositions for the viewers consideration'
My work represent an ancient idea that is still a medium for change today: purpose and intention.
I intend to wake the proverbial giant and risk the panicked being trampled; I have no sympathy for those who have built houses in the shadow of his slumber.
I claim no talent, no skill and only a sparse inconsequential history of exhibiting. My primary home Brooklyn USA, is the best example of a Global Village in this century. Every nationality on the planet seems to have an enclave here.
I am inspired by all music in general but my legs move to reggae, blues, bop, hip hop and punk rock. Since this conversation is about what I do, my calendar indicates businessman, designer, sculptor, producer, illustrator and painter, THIS occupies most of my day although the time is actually spent processing and rearranging lines in my mind while I watch the paint dry.
My second home is Kpando, Ghana located by Lake Volta in the heart of West Africa it is not a global village. It is a typical West African town; rural, the people very warm, and everyone accessible. When I am there I paint under and around a gourd tree. On the island of Jamaica where I was born, it was said that ghosts live under gourd trees. Its perfect except for my western mind -"black nationalist" discovers how "white" he is. On the down side there are no coffee bars in Kpando so I have to go to bed the same time as the chicken, nature's sound track is awesome though.
